Easter Is Coming

Uncategorized | Mar 9, 2015

Pastor, Easter is coming. You knew that, right?

Are you feeling the pressure yet? Or, have you even had time to think about it?

Easter is such an important day in the life of the church. The Kingdom building opportunities are endless and yet many of us don’t capitalize on the opportunities for the church. Possibilities are available at Easter for the future and the present Kingdom good.

I have a solution for you pastors. It’s huge.

Are you ready for this genius idea?

Build a team.

That’s it.

Build an Easter team.

Sounds too simple. But it’s huge.

Here’s the problem for most of us: We have so many demands on our schedule, and Sunday keeps coming. We don’t have time to pause and focus on the single biggest Sunday of the year.

The key is to empower others to help us with this dilemma.

Build a team from people within the church focussed solely on Easter. Include people skilled in marketing, in organization and systems, and people who can recruit volunteers. Empower them to brainstorm and come up with ideas of how your church can best capitalize on Easter. I’ve also found this is a great place to involve people who aren’t involved in any other area of ministry.

Now, the reality is, this process probably should’ve started months ago. The church I pastor starts this process as much as six months advance. But, if you’re like many pastors, you’re just now beginning to think about it—for the reasons previously mentioned.

So, go ahead and build a team for this year. And, next year, build a team earlier.

By the way, this team also serves as a great place to evaluate how you did at Easter. Have them meet again after Easter to assess the weekend. Those notes will come in handy for next year’s team.

And, if you’re really living on the wild side, you could include some people on your Easter team who don’t attend your church. What if an unchurched person—or lost person—helped plan an event to share the Gospel with people? What if they received the Gospel in the process?

Here’s to our best Easter celebrations ever!
