Summary
Daniel Im, director of church multiplication for NewChurches.com, joins the podcast to discuss developing disciples and measuring progress.
It’s key for churches to communicate “input goals” regarding discipleship: behaviors, input goals, or things that you can do that are going to continue to move you toward Christ but there’s never this point of, “I’ve done it.
In discipleship, there are input goals that we as church leaders need to be focusing on, developing our ministry around, developing our sermon series around that are going to produce the goal of maturity, which is evidenced by those eight output goals (discipleship attitudes, actions, and beliefs). We need to know what those inputs are.
When you look at the beginning and the starting of new churches, although every church is going to have a different vision, mission statement, and strategy in the way that they’re going to plant or the people that they’re going to target, all of that really should be an iteration of the great commission.
