Summary

The Disciple’s Study Bible is an incredible resource available to the local church. I personally wish something exactly like this came on the market before now. It has helpful tools within it that is common to many study bibles and also has tools that are unique to this Bible.

First: the physical parts of the Bible. It is a study Bible, so if you are looking for a thin-line Bible that you can stick in your pursue or back pocket this is not it. It’s not pocket-sized but not as big as other study Bibles on the market. The review copy I received has a brown/tan, LeatherTouch cover that will last.

It is not the most exhaustive of study Bibles when it comes to the actual study notes, but I love many of its features. The H.E.A.R. quiet time guide pages are excellent as you read and study Scripture. The book introductions are excellent, the many discipleship-themed study notes within and built-in Bible reading plan is incredible. Features like these are what make this study Bible not only unique but also very accessible for local church ministry.

Benefit for Pastoral Ministry

In local church ministry, I see the benefit to the Disciple’s Study Bible as three-fold. Pastors will find it a great tool for leading Bible studies and preaching. It also is great for using across the board, age-wise. A senior adult can benefit from it as can parents with an eight-year child.

Second, if your church can afford it, this would be a great Bible to give to every new believer in your church after baptism, as a way to get them in the Word on a regular basis.

Finally, it also can serve a great purpose for the believer who has been a Christian for some time. I have in mind  a person who says, “I don’t feel as connected to Jesus anymore” or “Jesus feels distant.” This Bible will help greatly in getting them in the Word on a consistent basis and tracking through a discipleship-themed reading plan and notes. There is much more to this Bible than simply a Bible reading plan and a few discipleship notes along the way. It is well thought-out with the end goal helping believers in all various stages of their Christian journey grow in their love for Jesus and His Kingdom.
