“On the Horizon” is a preview of newsworthy events coming within the next week.
Together for the Gospel
This week marks the seventh gathering for T4G, “a biennial conference for thousands of pastors and church leaders who, for all their differences, are committed to standing together for the main thing—the gospel of Jesus Christ.”
Headlined by reformed pastors and leaders, the conference expects to draw more than 15,000 pastors and church leaders from around the country to Louisville, Kentucky.
Possible #ChurchToo Protests in Louisville
Following last month’s announcement that C.J. Mahaney would step down from speaking at Together for the Gospel, the threat of protests at the event has subsided.
However, it still would not be surprising to see advocates in the #ChurchToo and #MeToo movement make their presence known outside the Yum Center this week.
In-Store Events with Thom S. Rainer
Best-selling author and Lifeway President & CEO Thom Rainer heads west this week for a string of in-store events at local Lifeway Christian Stores.
The events are specifically designed to equip pastors and church leaders to better reach their communities with the gospel. Find out more at thomrainer.com/newnormal.
Congressional Debate on Budget Items
Rumors continue to swirl that Congress may rescind portions of the omnibus bill passed last month. Along with this debate is a scheduled vote in the House on a constitutional amendment aimed at mandating a balanced budget for the federal government.
Immigration Stakes Rising
Debates about the southern border of the U.S. raged last week and national guardsmen are headed to the Mexico border.
In addition to the troops mobilizing, the border wall discussion has intensified in Washington D.C., and advocates for DACA continue to make their case heard on Capitol Hill.
Be sure to check FactsAndTrends.net throughout the week for continued coverage of these stories and much more.
