“On the Horizon” is a preview of newsworthy events coming within the week.

Patterson Fallout Continues

All eyes in the Southern Baptist Convention are still on former Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary President Paige Patterson. He was recently released from all duties at Southwestern, but the annual meeting convention sermon—which he is scheduled to give next week—still hangs in the balance.

Many are anticipating a resolution to the issue this week. Some would like to see Patterson follow through with the sermon. Others disagree. Everyone is wondering what he will decide.

Where in the World Is Melania Trump?

The First Lady’s unknown whereabouts for the last three-plus weeks are starting to puzzle journalists and citizens alike. However, CNN is reporting she is “expected to attend a White House event on Monday evening to honor Gold Star families.”

Middle East Instability Continues

Following mass protests in Jordan, Hani Mulki, the Jordanian Prime Minister, resigned today. The protests were aimed at the failed economic policies of the Jordanian government. According to The Guardian, “Jordan’s economy has suffered a downturn in recent years and unemployment has risen, largely as a result of conflicts in neighboring Syria and Iraq.”

SCOTUS Religious Freedom and Abortion Decisions Possible

The Supreme Court of the United States is scheduled to release decisions this week. Possible rulings include those involving forced baking of cakes for LGBT weddings and abortion restrictions. Stay with Facts & Trends for updates to these stories as they develop.

A Nation Remembers
