“On the Horizon” is a quick glance at important news items for your week.
Chick-Fil-Eh?
The Georgia-based fast-food chain announced late last week its intentions to expand into Canada. The Toronto store will become Chick-fil-A’s first international store. However, protests against the company’s Christian values (specifically those focused on biblical sexuality) have already started. It will interesting to see if the protests change any of the plans.
Social Nose Dives
Both Facebook and Twitter saw incredible tumbles on Wall Street last week. Their ability to bounce back this week will be key to regaining public (and investor) trust in their respective futures. With all the discussion of fake news and fake accounts, both face uphill challenges as the mid-term elections grow closer.
Build the Wall or…
With a possible fight over a spending bill looming, President Trump tweeted his willingness to shut down the government over immigration issues, including a southern border wall. Most political pundits don’t expect a showdown on the budget until after SCOTUS nominee Kavanaugh is confirmed and the midterm elections are decided.
