Chinese Government Raids Churches
From Reuters: “Beijing city authorities have banned one of the largest unofficial Protestant churches in the city and confiscated ‘illegal promotional materials,’ amid a deepening crackdown on China’s ‘underground’ churches.”
September 11 Anniversary
The 17th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks is Tuesday, and yet the United States’ “war on terror” is ongoing in both Afghanistan and the Middle East.
This week, we can party like it’s 5779…because it is—according to the Jewish calendar. Our Jewish brothers and sisters are celebrating Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, this week. Mazel tov!

East coasters have their eyes on the Atlantic where Hurricane Florence is bearing down on the Carolinas. It’s possible the hurricane will make landfall later this week as a Category 4 storm. Disaster relief agencies across the country are preparing to mobilize once the storm subsides.
