Kavanaugh Confirmed: What Next?
The U.S. Senate confirmed Brett Kavanaugh, President Trump’s nominee to fill the Supreme Court opening left by Anthony Kennedy’s retirement, to the high court on Saturday after the most bitter political appointee battle in recent memory.
He will begin hearing cases this week.
Midterm Elections: What Now?
After Kavanaugh’s confirmation, Washington D.C. turns its full attention to November and the midterm elections. And so is Taylor Swift.
With her first public foray into politics, the pop star endorsed a U.S. Senate candidate in Tennessee via an Instagram post Sunday night.
Natural Disasters in the Gulf of Mexico
The Gulf of Mexico had a rough weekend. Tropical Storm Michael formed on Sunday and is headed to the Florida coastline as a hurricane, while a 5.9 magnitude earthquake struck Haiti on Saturday.
Disaster relief agencies are busy in the region.
More Changes in Utah
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints announced two major changes over the weekend.
Their Sunday services will now be condensed from three hours to two. And the Mormon Tabernacle Choir will now be called The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square.
The name change comes after the church made a decision earlier this year to no longer use the “Mormon” moniker.
Another 24-Hour News Channel
The Christian Broadcasting Network launched its own 24-hour news channel last week, CBN News.
It’s only available over-the-air in 15 markets, but it will be fascinating to see if there is enough of an audience for yet another news channel.
