The study by Lifeway Research reveals young adults are falling away from church and many are finding church irrelevant to their lives.

Only 11 percent of formerly churched adults would be willing to identify themselves as a visitor when visiting a church for the first time.

Lifeway Research finds more than two-thirds of formerly churched adults are open to the idea of attending church regularly again.

While a great deal of effort is made by churches and denominations to attract new church members, Lifeway Research's newest study surveys the "formerly churched" to better understand why people leave.
