Moms' Night Out Crashes Weekend Box Office Top 10

Moms’ Night Out, the family comedy starring Patricia Heaton, Sarah Drew, Sean Astin and Trace Adkins, made $4.2 million at the box office over Mother’s Day weekend.
For a movie where everything seems to go wrong, that was good enough for seventh on the weekend charts, despite being in the fewest theaters of any other top 10 movie.
The film follows Allyson (Sarah Drew) looking to find a peaceful, grown-up evening of dinner and conversation with her friends. But for that to happen, they need their husbands to watch the kids for a few hours. The night doesn’t go as anyone planned. Here’s the trailer.

Moms’ Night Out is the first faith-based comedy of the year, coming on the heels of dramas like Son of God and God is Not Dead.
The film has garnered endorsements from teacher and author Beth Moore, pastor and theologian David Platt, and Super Bowl winning coach Tony Dungy.
In this video, stars Sarah Drew and Sean Astin share lessons they learned from their mothers, while directors (and brothers) Jon and Andrew Erwin discuss hoping the movie makes people laugh, but can serve as a reminder of the worth of individuals, especially moms.

In conjunction with the release of Moms’ Night Out, a novelization of the screenplay is available.
Comedian Kerri Pomarolli also wrote a devotional inspired by the movie, Moms’ Night Out And Other Things I Miss: Devotions to Help You Survive. The book, while designed to make you laugh, “will also help you discover that indeed you are not alone, and that God’s gracious provision of love and faithfulness is at work in your life and of your loved ones.”
